Western Canadian Championships (May 1–3) – Volunteer Opportunities (Hospitality Room)

Dear Regina Diving Club Families,

This is the second of several emails that will be shared over the coming weeks outlining volunteer opportunities for the Western Canadian Diving Championship which Regina Diving Club is hosting from May 1-3. It is important to note that it is not possible for our club to host competitions of this size without the support of our diving families—we truly appreciate everyone stepping forward to help make this event a success.

Volunteer Opportunity: Hospitality Room

The hospitality room plays a very important role during competitions, helping to keep coaches, judges, volunteers, and athletes fueled throughout the day.

Volunteers in this area will:

  • Set out snacks and refreshments

  • Prepare and organize light breakfast and lunch items

  • Restock food and keep the space clean and welcoming

No prior experience is necessary—just a willingness to help. This is a great way to contribute in a more behind-the-scenes role while still being part of the competition environment.

Sign-Up Details

When signing up for a shift, please include:

  • Your diver’s name

  • Their level/category (e.g., National D Female, Novice B Male)

We will do our best to ensure you are not scheduled during your child’s events; however, this cannot be guaranteed.

If you have signed up for Table Shifts (entering scores / announcing) please ensure the times you signed up for DO NOT conflict with any hospitality shifts that you are signing up for (i.e. DO NOT double book yourself).

Extra Information About Competitions

For those who may be newer to the club and/or sport, this competition is the Western Canadian Championships (“Westerns”).

This event provides an opportunity for athletes in levels F through A (approximately ages 5–18) to compete on:

  • 1 metre

  • 3 metre

  • Tower

To compete on a board, divers must have a “dive list,” which is the required set of dives for that level and board. Coaches will be connecting with each diver and family in the coming weeks to confirm readiness and eligibility.

We will be running both national and novice events at Westerns.

For athletes who are not yet competing, we strongly encourage you to come out and watch—this is a fantastic opportunity to learn more about the sport and see what future participation can look like.

There are multiple ways for families to get involved, including:

  • Tables

  • Hospitality Room (this email)

  • Raffle/Merchandise Table

If you have questions about the competition itself, please reach out to your coach. If you have questions about volunteering or donations, please contact Bonnie.

Thank you in advance for your support—these events truly take a team, and we are so grateful to have such a strong and committed diving community.

Warm regards,Bonnie & Carla
