Western Canadian Championships (May 1–3) – Volunteer Opportunities Summary

Dear Regina Diving Club Families,


As we prepare to host the Western Canadian Diving Championships from May 1–3, we want to thank you in advance for your support. Hosting a competition of this size is an incredible opportunity for our club—and it truly takes a full team effort from our diving families to make it happen.


Over the past few emails, we have shared three key volunteer areas. Below is a summary of each opportunity:


Tables

Table volunteers play an important role in running the competition. There are two sets:

  • Set A: 1 metre

  • Set B: 3 metre and platform

Each set includes:

  • 1 Announcer (announces scores as judges display them)

  • 2 Computer Operators (enter scores)

  • 1 Recorder (records scores manually)


No prior experience is required, and training will be provided prior to the competition.

Hospitality Room

The hospitality room helps keep coaches, judges, volunteers, and athletes fueled throughout the day.


Volunteers will:

  • Set out snacks and refreshments

  • Prepare light breakfast and lunch items

  • Restock food and maintain the space

This is a great behind-the-scenes role and no experience is necessary.

Raffle & Merchandise Table

This is a fun and interactive role that supports our fundraising efforts.

Volunteers will:

  • Sell raffle tickets for prize packages and major raffles

  • Sell club merchandise (water bottles, tank tops, shammies, etc.)

  • Assist guests with purchases



Sign-Up Reminders

When signing up for any volunteer shift, please:

  • Carefully read the directions on SignUpGenius

  • Include your diver’s name

  • Include their level/category (e.g., National D Female, Novice B Male)

We will do our best to ensure you are not scheduled during your child’s events; however, this cannot be guaranteed.


Hospitality Donations

We are also asking families to consider contributing to our hospitality room through either a food donation or a cash donation. These contributions help us provide snacks and meals for coaches, judges, volunteers, and athletes throughout the competition. If you are signing up to bring items, we kindly ask that you consider selecting items earlier in the list, as this greatly supports our lead hospitality volunteers in planning and preparation.


Additional Information

For families newer to the club, Westerns is a competition for athletes in levels F through A (approximately ages 5–18), with events on 1m, 3m, and tower (depending on readiness and dive lists). Coaches will connect with families to confirm participation details.

We will be running both national and novice events, and we encourage all families—whether competing or not—to come out and be part of the experience.
